Primus' unusual approach to music and the diversity of their sound has made them difficult to define. The band has been called everything from thrash funk, to progressive metal, to alternative rock. Bass player and lead singer Les Claypool has called his band psychedelic polka. Original members Claypool and Larry "Ler" Lalonde have been producing records and performing live together since the late eighties. This year, Primus welcomes back to the stage one of their original drummers Jay Lane, who has not played with the band since 1989. Their irreverent approach to music and their willingness to play music outside of the norm has garnered them a large, eclectic fan base. Primus plays music with an edge that is unique and like nothing else.
